Up to eight tracks can hold 128 clips. Splitting keeps both pieces on the same track. The musical grid uses 4/4; snap applies when moving clips or placing the split playhead. Autosave stays on this device. Download an editable arrangement to keep source audio, clip edits, mix settings and grid together, then reopen it here. Export WAV creates a single audio mix; muted clips are excluded.

How do I merge and edit tunes?

Import audio or add saved takes. Select a clip to trim it, move its start time, adjust volume and pan, or add fades. Enable Bars & beats for an optional BPM grid and snapping. Drag the enlarged waveform handles to trim or fade clips. Loop a selection while editing. Open Compose instrument notes to write a melody with editable pitch, length and velocity, then add it to the timeline as a note clip. Select that clip to change its notes, instrument, timing or velocity and choose Update clip. Its notes remain editable after saving and reopening; older rendered-only clips remain audio clips. Split clips on the same track, preview your mix, then export WAV or download an editable arrangement to reopen later.

How are audio files mixed and saved?

Audio is decoded and mixed locally in your browser. Export combines audible tracks into a stereo WAV, with optional peak normalization. Use up to eight tracks and 128 clips, 25 MB per audio import, and a ten-minute mix. Editable downloads include source audio, note phrases and settings; WAV contains the finished mix. New note phrases start at the timeline tempo. Use timeline tempo and Update clip to retime an existing phrase; changing the timeline grid alone does not stretch audio. Editable arrangements autosave on this device when storage is available. Wait for the saved confirmation; clearing site data removes them.

How do I make and export a mix in Tune Editor?

  1. Add your sounds

Choose Import audio, add a saved take, or try the demo stems. Compose instrument notes can add an editable note clip to the timeline.

  2. Arrange the clips

Move clips on the timeline, trim their ends, and adjust volume, pan or fades. Layer together overlaps clips; Join end to end places them in sequence.

  3. Preview the mix

Play the arrangement and listen to the transitions. Stop playback to revise clips or update a selected note clip.

  4. Export or save

Choose Export WAV for a finished audio mix or Save mix to Takes for a local recording. Download editable keeps source audio, notes and settings for reopening in Tune Editor; it is separate from the WAV mix.

A few useful notes

Can I edit instrument notes after adding a clip?

Yes. Clips made with Compose instrument notes retain their pitch, position, length, velocity and instrument. Select the note clip, edit its phrase and choose Update clip. Notes survive autosave and editable-arrangement downloads. Audio imported from files or older rendered-only clips cannot automatically become editable notes.

What is the difference between layering and joining audio files?

Layer together starts clips at the same time so their sounds overlap. Join end to end places each clip after the previous clip to make a sequence. You can then move, trim, split, and fade clips before exporting one stereo WAV.

Are uploaded audio files sent to a server?

No. Audio decoding, editing, and mixing happen in your browser. The editor supports up to eight tracks, 128 clips and a ten-minute mix. Editable downloads contain audio, clip edits and musical grid settings. The editable arrangement and source audio autosave on this device. Wait for the saved confirmation before closing, and download a backup before clearing browser data.
