Keep a returning note while the pattern changes

Use G3 as a repeating anchor while the lower notes move. The warm decay lets you hear how the two halves overlap without becoming identical.

Starting tempo: 72 BPM. Use Keep the beat for a steady pulse.

  1. 1C3 (A)
  2. 2G3 (G)
  3. 3E3 (D)
  4. 4G3 (G)
  5. 5D3 (S)
  6. 6G3 (G)
  7. 7F3 (F)
  8. 8G3 (G)
  1. Locate the compact controls

Find C3, D3, E3, F3 and G3. Their shortcuts are A, S, D, F and G. Set Keep the beat to 72 BPM and four beats per bar.

  2. Alternate with the anchor

Play the pattern one note per beat. G3 returns on every even-numbered beat; avoid hitting it early as you change the lower note.

  3. Listen to the two halves

Repeat the eight beats, keeping the tempo unchanged. The first half uses C3 and E3; the second replaces them with D3 and F3.

Try next: Move the repeating anchor to C4 using K and keep the lower-note sequence. Compare the wider pitch gaps.
