How do I play the online saxophone?

In 3D view, choose Play to tap, strum, or glide across a playing surface. Hold keys or wind surfaces to sustain a note. Choose Rotate to inspect the model; scroll or pinch to zoom. Use the labeled note controls or computer keys for chords and the full range. Classic view provides the original illustrated playing surface. Hold a computer key or labeled note button for a sustained tone. Choose an original concert study to hear a developed, single-voice saxophone arrangement.

What sounds does the virtual saxophone use?

Tenor saxophone samples provide the reed character and sustain. The controls select pitches directly rather than reproducing acoustic saxophone fingering.

Connect a low phrase to its upper octave

Use a repeated low-register idea and one higher C to explore the tenor saxophone sample range. The leap is chosen with note controls, not an octave mechanism.

Starting tempo: 60 BPM. Use Keep the beat for a steady pulse.

  1. 1C3 (A)
  2. 2E3 (D)
  3. 3G3 (G)
  4. 4Keep holding G3
  5. 5C4 (K)
  6. 6G3 (G)
  7. 7E3 (D)
  8. 8Release and rest
  1. Locate the octave pair

Find C3 and C4 on the labeled controls. Their shortcuts are A and K. E3 is D and G3 is G.

  2. Build toward the leap

At 60 BPM, climb from C3 to E3 to G3. Hold G3 for the fourth beat, then release before playing C4 on beat 5.

  3. Return with space

Come back through G3 and E3, then release for the last beat. Repeat and keep the high C4 no longer than its one-beat place.

Try next: Try the same labeled pitches on Clarinet. Compare the two sampled reed voices while keeping the melody and timing unchanged.

A few useful notes about the saxophone

Which saxophone sound am I playing?

This instrument uses tenor saxophone samples. Hold a labeled note to hear the sustained reed tone, then release it to fade.

Can I practise acoustic saxophone fingerings here?

The controls select pitches directly. Use them for melody and timing practice; breath, embouchure, and real key combinations are not simulated.
