THE RESONANT FIELD NOTES

Keep the idea. Fix the interruption.

A silent instrument, a file that will not open and a missing recording need different fixes. Start with the symptom below, and keep any unsaved work open while you investigate.

Open Tune editor
Local sessionEditable backupFinished WAVVerify files

The keys move, but nothing plays

Tap a key or a Play button on the page first. Browsers may wait for a direct interaction before starting audio. Then check your device volume and its current output: audio may be going to headphones or a Bluetooth speaker instead of the built-in speaker.

If the problem is in Tune Editor, check the selected clip’s Volume and whether a track is muted or another track is soloed. In DJ machine, check the deck level and the crossfader position. A playing deck can be silent because the crossfader is at the other end.

Try a second instrument or the original DJ demo to narrow the problem down. If one imported file alone is silent, inspect that file rather than changing every audio setting. Download anything unsaved before reloading the page; a reload is a later step, not the first one.

An audio file will not open

Resonant accepts files up to 25 MB and ten minutes per import. Check both limits. Changing a file extension from one format to another does not convert the audio inside it.

The browser tries its own decoder first. Extended formats can require an additional decoder download of about 31 MB, so the first attempt needs an internet connection and may take longer. Files are processed on your device. Some protected, proprietary, incomplete or damaged files still cannot be decoded.

Try a short, unprotected WAV or MP3 that you know plays elsewhere. If that works, export a compatible copy of the problem file from its original audio app. Keep the original file as well. For a long recording, use a shorter section instead of repeatedly retrying the same oversized import.

Understand where your work lives

Recordings, the editor arrangement and saved workspace sessions use this browser’s storage. They are not an account-based cloud library. Opening another browser, browser profile or device will not automatically show the same takes. Private browsing and clearing site data can also remove local work.

The recordings library allows 150 MB. If it fills up, download older takes and verify the files before deleting them. If saving is unavailable, the current tab may still let you listen and download. Do that before closing it. A recording already removed from browser storage cannot be recovered by a shared studio link.

Make a backup you can check

Save two files when a mix matters: Export WAV for listening and Download editable for continuing the work. Give the mix a recognizable name before exporting. Find the files in your device’s downloads and play the WAV outside Resonant to check that it contains the expected sound.

The editable file opens through Open arrangement in Tune Editor. The preview asks before replacing the current arrangement and its undo history. Download the current arrangement first if you need both. Once opened, check the clip count and play a short section; for a note clip, confirm that Edit instrument notes still shows its notes.

A WAV does not contain the original editable timeline. An editable arrangement is not a general-purpose music player file. Keeping both avoids discovering this difference when you move to another device.

If recording or export fails

Stop other active recordings or imports and read the message next to the control. Studio recording is limited to five minutes; editor mixes are limited to ten minutes. Finish a small test before attempting another long take.

If Download WAV cannot convert a saved take, choose Original audio to keep the captured file. The original recording format depends on the browser. For microphone recording, check this site’s permission and use the secure Resonant website; an instrument recording does not require microphone permission.

If you need to report a problem, note the browser and device, which tool failed, the exact message, and the file’s format, duration and size. Those details are more useful than “audio broken” and do not require sharing your private recording.

A few useful answers.

Are my Resonant recordings saved in the cloud?

No. Recordings and workspace sessions are stored in the current browser on this device when storage is available. Download audio and editable arrangements to keep independent copies or move them to another device.

Will clearing browser data fix an audio problem?

Clearing browser data can delete your local recordings and arrangements. Download your work first, and try the sound, output and file checks in this guide before considering a storage reset.
