Explore six strings in E–A–D–G–B–E tuning. In 3D, touch positions along the 20-fret neck for a melody, or choose a chord and strum over the body. Classic view retains the open strings and compact melody controls.

## How to play

In 3D view, choose Play to tap, strum, or glide across a playing surface. Hold keys or wind surfaces to sustain a note. Choose Rotate to inspect the model; scroll or pinch to zoom. Use the labeled note controls or computer keys for chords and the full range. Classic view provides the original illustrated playing surface. Choose C, G, D, Em or Am for a ready-to-strum fingering. Copper markers show held frets; omitted strings stay muted. Touching the neck chooses that fret directly, and Open strings restores the original tuning.

## Sound

Steel-string acoustic guitar samples give each note its attack and natural decay.

## Change the chord, keep the pulse

Use two ready-made fingerings to hear how a chord change alters a strum. The empty beats give you time to change the selector.

Starting tempo: 60 BPM. Use Keep the beat for a steady pulse.

1: C chord | 2: No new strum | 3: G chord | 4: No new strum | 5: C chord | 6: No new strum | 7: G chord | 8: No new strum

1. **Choose a fingering.** Use 3D view and choose C in String chord. Set Keep the beat to 60 BPM and four beats per bar.

2. **Strum on alternate beats.** Press Strum all on beat 1. During beat 2, select G, then strum on beat 3. Continue the pattern, changing the selector during each empty beat.

3. **Inspect what changed.** Look at the copper fret markers. The C shape leaves one string muted; G uses all six. Choose Open strings and strum once more to compare the unfretted tuning.

**What to listen for:** Keep the starts of the strums evenly spaced. The selected 3D chord changes Strum all; an omitted string should stay silent rather than sounding its open pitch.

**Try next:** Replace G with Am, then Em. Keep the same rhythm so that the changing chord is the only new variable.

## How do I record the guitar in Resonant?

1. **Choose your playing controls.** Choose Play in 3D view or switch to Classic. Tap a playing surface, use the labeled note controls, or press a computer-key shortcut to enable sound.

2. **Record your idea.** Press Record above the instrument, then play your phrase. This records studio audio without using your microphone. Each take can last up to five minutes.

3. **Listen and keep a copy.** Press Stop, open Recordings, and listen to the take. Choose Download WAV or Original audio to keep a file. Saved takes stay on this device; clearing browser storage removes them.

## Questions and answers

### How do I play the online guitar?

In 3D view, choose Play to tap, strum, or glide across a playing surface. Hold keys or wind surfaces to sustain a note. Choose Rotate to inspect the model; scroll or pinch to zoom. Use the labeled note controls or computer keys for chords and the full range. Classic view provides the original illustrated playing surface. Choose C, G, D, Em or Am for a ready-to-strum fingering. ### What sounds does the virtual guitar use?

Steel-string acoustic guitar samples give each note its attack and natural decay.

### How do I strum the guitar with the pick?

Choose Play in 3D view and sweep across the strings with the animated pick, or drag across the strings in Classic view. Each sounding string triggers a note and vibration. On a phone or tablet, drag a finger across the strings. In 3D, Strum all follows your selected chord and skips its muted strings. Choose Open strings to restore the six open pitches. Classic view strums the open strings.

### Can I play guitar chords and fretted notes?

Yes. In 3D, choose C, G, D, Em or Am and strum over the body, or touch the 20-fret neck to choose a pitch directly. Copper markers show held frets and omitted strings stay muted. Open strings restores E–A–D–G–B–E. This virtual layout does not teach physical hand technique on an acoustic guitar.
